This striking Lone Star (Bethlehem Star) quilt dates to the 1930s–early 1940s and features a beautifully graduated star bursting from a soft ivory ground. The maker used classic Depression-era pastel cottons—blush pinks, lavender, mint, butter yellow, and vivid red—creating exceptional movement and visual depth. The fine hand-quilting is in outlines of the patchwork diamonds and in diamonds in the white areas.
The quilt is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, with careful construction and balanced borders. Smaller coordinating stars and a charming diamond pieced border frame the central star, giving the quilt a finished, intentional look typical of high-quality quilts of this era.
The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with light age-related toning to the white fabric around parts of the edge/binding of the quilt. See photos.
This is a collector-quality, structurally sound vintage quilt, suitable for display, layering, or use on a guest bed.
