Vintage 1930s Mariner's Compass Quilt – Depression Era Quilt Top with Modern Quilting – 77" x 82"

$215.20 $269.00

  • Details
This striking Depression-era medallion quilt features classic Mariner's Compass pieced in authentic 1930s cotton prints, including navy polka dots, double pinks, mint green, and cheddar yellow—hallmarks of the feed-sack era.

The quilt top dates to the 1930s, while the back and quilting itself was completed later (circa 1990s) using modern long-arm machine quilting in swirls and curlicues. The back is white cotton as is the very narrow binding that has been machine stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.

Please note that there is a handwritten inscription on the back of the quilt that was added at an unknown time that says the quilt was "pieced in 1868 (101 pieces) and quilted in Va. in 1958." Unfortunately, this inscription appears to be incorrect as the fabrics that make up the Mariner's Compass are much later than 1868 and long-arm quilting was not yet available in 1958.

The quilt is in excellent condition, with no condition issues noted.
