Vintage Glorified Nine Patch Quilt c. 1940s – Hand Quilted Purple & White Bed Quilt – 86" x 96"

This beautiful, never or lightly-used Glorified Nine Patch quilt dates to the mid 20th century, between 1940 and 1950, and is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted. Measuring a generous 86” x 96”, it was made in a classic pattern with purple printed fabrics alternating with crisp white blocks.

The quilting is in floral motifs in the open areas and in diagonal grids in the rest of the quilt. The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

This quilt is in excellent vintage condition and appears unused; there is some age-related, light fading of the dyes in the purple print fabric. Penciled quilting marks remain in the white areas (see photos).
