This beautiful antique Colonial Pineapple Quilt dates to the early 20th century, circa 1910-1920s, and is a wonderful example of quilt-making of the era.
Constructed from solid green and softly aged cream/yellow cottons, the quilt features the classic Pineapple pattern rendered with very fine strip piecing, a strong, balanced composition and a beautiful pieced border with pointed corners. The hand-quilting is tight, consistent, and labor-intensive
The back is a darker yellow cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form a very narrow binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with several very small toning marks (see photos).
