This exquisite antique tulip basket quilt dates from the late 19th century to early 1900s (1890-1910) and features an all-over arrangement of hand-appliquéd tulips on a crisp white ground. Each basket is formed with rich red tulips, vibrant green stems and leaves, and a warm orange accent, creating a striking floral design. The hand-quilting is so dense in some areas it is stippled while everywhere it is finely done in very, very tiny stitches and in patterns that include feathers, feather wreaths, and diagonal grids.
The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form a very narrow binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
This beautiful quilt is in excellent antique condition with no condition issues noted.
