This cheerful and beautifully preserved Depression-era Cluster of Stars Quilt dates to the 1930s and features classic eight-point star blocks set in a framed grid with vibrant pink sashing and rich blue checkerboard setting blocks. Each star is individually pieced from a delightful mix of 1930s and early 1940s cotton prints — including shirting blues, small florals, stripes, novelty prints, and that wonderful red-with-black polka dot that instantly evokes the late Depression period.
The hand-quilting is tiny and precise and in a diagonal grid throughout the quilt.
The backing is made from vintage feed sack fabric, with faint original green commercial feed sack stamping still visible, while the binding is a very thin grey and white cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
