  • Details
This beautiful 1940s Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt is a classic example of mid-century American quiltmaking, with each flower carefully hand-pieced from individual hexagon pieces. The quilting is all by hand and is in outlines of the hundreds of hexagons.

The fabrics strongly reflect the 1940s era, with lively prints including small-scale florals, cheerful novelty patterns, and bright, saturated colors—especially the vivid pinks, reds, yellows, and blues typical of the period. The scalloped edge follows the natural hexagon layout and is finished with a soft green binding that frames the quilt beautifully.

Its elongated proportions (62" by 105") are typical of quilts made for mid-century twin beds or daybeds, offering generous length for full coverage while maintaining a neat, tailored width—making it ideal for a twin bed, daybed, or as a striking layered display piece.

The back is a Nile/mint green cotton where the hand-quilting can be seen in full relief, while the binding is a slightly darker shade of cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
