Antique c.1910–1925 Blue & White Flower Basket Quilt, Hand Quilted, 66"x78"

This is a beautiful antique flower basket quilt, hand pieced and hand quilted, and inscribed on the reverse with the maker’s name and life dates: “Nancy A. Black 1841–1929.” The design features a classic Flower Basket pattern set on point, executed in a blue and white color palette. The fabrics include small-scale indigo and blue geometric prints typical of the turn of the century, paired with soft white cottons.

The hand-quilting is in outlines of the patchwork and it is tiny, consistent and expertly done. The back is white cotton while the binding is the small-scale indigo and blue geometric print that has been machine stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with some fading of the blue fabric. See photos.
