This beautiful Aster Quilt dates to the 1920s–1930s and features hand-pieced and hand-quilted construction. Each circular “Aster” is made from carefully arranged wedges of period cottons—tiny florals, stripes, geometrics, and classic Depression-era color combinations. The soft pastel block settings are pink and mint green making each Aster stand out.
The quilting is in outlines of the patchwork and in a modified twisted rope pattern between the Asters. The back is a blush cotton while the front fabrics have been turned to the back and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is in very good condition with two Asters that each have 2 petals with fabric loss (see photos).
