Vintage 1950 Hand Embroidered Child’s Quilt – Farm & Animal Motifs – 40” x 46”

This charming mid-century child’s quilt is a delightful 1950s hand embroidered quilt with storybook scenes and cheerful country motifs stitched across a soft white ground. Dated “1950” in pink embroidery on the reverse, this sweet little quilt is also hand-embroidered throughout.

The quilt features a lovely collection of animals and farmyard scenes including a horse, lamb, pig, ducks, birds, a turkey, doghouse, windmill, flowers, beehive, and adorable child figures, all stitched in bright happy colors with wonderful folk-art character. The soft pink sawtooth border frames the quilt and gives it a classic 1940s–1950s nursery look.

The quilt is hand quilted in outlines of the sawtooth border and in an allover grid pattern and has a lovely lightweight feel that drapes beautifully over a child’s rocker, crib rail, or antique quilt stand. The back is white cotton as is the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

CONDITION: The quilt is in very good vintage condition overall with some dropped embroidery stitches, a spot with three tiny tan marks (see photos) and fabric loss to one white “tooth” in the sawtooth border, some beginning fraying to portions of the binding, and one seam separation along the binding edge.
