Vintage 1930-1940s Martha Washington’s Flower Garden Quilt, Hand Pieced Hexagons 83"x85"

This beautiful Martha Washington’s Flower Garden Quilt has such a striking and graphic presence, with rows of richly colored hexagon flowers against a creamy white ground. The combination of indigo shirtings, cadet blues, double pinks, tiny florals, and geometric prints are striking.

Entirely hand pieced from hundreds upon hundreds of hexagons, this quilt was likely made between 1930 and the 1940s and it uses a wonderful assortment of earlier shirting and dress cottons. It has a four sided scalloped edge finish.

The quilt has a sophisticated yet cozy farmhouse feel. It has a white cotton back and it has been knife-edge finished and hand-stitched closed. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition. It has been soaked, freshly hand washed and line-dried, giving a light natural sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
