This charming little Grandmother’s Flower Garden Doll Quilt is an early 20th century miniature quilt that has been hand pieced from 1-inch hexagons and finished with blue hand ties. The same color ties are stitched into the border in a tiny serpentine pattern, adding to the quilt's folk-art personality and texture.
The quilt is made from a beautiful assortment of early printed cottons including feedsack-era florals, geometrics, plaids, novelty prints, and soft pastel shirtings. The back is an off-white/ivory cotton as is the binding that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
CONDITION: Lovely antique condition with age-related wear and gentle fading consistent with use and age. There are two hexagons with fabric loss and two more with fabric thinning. There is also some minor, light toning/tan spots.
