Bold and graphic, this vintage Jacob’s Ladder quilt dates to the 1930s–1940s made from a soft green and white color palette. It has a graphic - almost modern - appearance, while the fabrics, handwork and traditional hand-quilting bring it back to the 1930s or 40s. The quilt features repeated Jacob’s Ladder blocks arranged diagonally across a crisp white ground, producing a fresh, clean look.
The hand-quilting is in white lattice/rosette motifs in the open white areas with a circle at each corner, while the patchwork is quilted in cross-hatch grids and the four-sided border quilting is in a diagonal grid. The back is white cotton while the binding is green cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt has been well cared for and is in excellent vintage condition. It has been soaked, freshly cleaned and line-dried, giving a light natural sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
