Antique Diamond in a Square Crib Quilt | c. 1880s | Hand Pieced & Hand Quilted | 39” x 42”

This nearly 150 year old Diamond in a Square Crib Quilt dates to the 1880s and has been made by hand using printed cotton fabrics, including shirtings, plaids, tiny geometrics, florals, paisleys, and rich indigo and brown prints. There is a striking blue paisley fabric framing the quilt in diamonds. Many of the prints are small-scale dress and shirting fabrics commonly found in quilts of the 1870s and 1880s

The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with quilting in the outlines of the patchwork. The back has been pieced from multiple green and blue prints while the binding is a beautiful chocolate geometric print that has been handstitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

CONDITION: This little quilt has survived remarkably well and is in excellent antique condition. Please review the photos as they form an important part of the description.
