$389.00

  • Details
This is a striking 1930s Going to Chicago Quilt worked in a beautiful cornflower blue and white cotton. Twenty pieced blocks are arranged in a crisp 4-by-5 setting, all hand pieced and hand quilted, with closely spaced linear and diagonal quilting. The blue fabric has developed the soft variation and subtle mottling associated with age.

The blocks are separated by wide white sashing, with a white cotton back and a cornflower blue cotton binding that appears to be a later replacement. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with a replaced binding and several older repairs that were made by sewing machine, including areas where seams or weakened portions were reinforced. Some of these repairs stand out on the white back as the repairs were made in blue thread. Please examine the photographs closely as they form an important part of the description.
