  • Details
This is a beautiful antique Spiderweb Quilt dating to approximately the late 1920s to early 1930s. Measuring 66” x 82”, this quilt is completely hand pieced and hand tied and made from an assortment of period cotton fabrics.

The Spiderweb blocks are made of scraps including checks, plaids, stripes, small florals, geometric prints, shirtings, solids and other early cotton dress fabrics. Deep navy fabric gives definition to each circular block, while bright red printed sashing creates a strong graphic framework especially as they are combined with the black-and-white printed cornerstones.

The quilt has a very appealing folk-art and scrappy quality, with each block containing a different combination of fabrics and colors. The overall palette includes navy, red, blue, aqua, pink, yellow, lavender, black and white.

The back is a black-and-white geometric cotton print that has been turned to the front and machine stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is unsized and medium-weight. There are several older repairs to the back that appear to have been made to stabilize the quilt.

CONDITION: Good antique condition considering its age. The quilt shows age-related wear and several repairs to the backing, as shown in the photographs. Please review all photographs closely as they form an important part of the description.
