This is a lovely little survivor from the late Victorian era, an 1890s miniature Zigzag Quilt featuring vertical columns of diagonal piecing—with a large variety of fabrics packed into this compact 12.5" by 15" doll quilt.
Fabric Variety: An authentic "scrap bag" sampler showcasing dozens of distinct late 19th-century cottons, including Victorian shirting prints, deep mourning blacks and browns, indigo blues, turkey reds, double pinks, gingham checks, madder calicos, florals, polka dots, and novelty geometrics. Quilting: Hand-quilted in vertical channels with cream/white thread, complementing the movement of the zigzag rows. Backing & Binding: Backed in an antique rose-pink floral vine calico that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The quilt does not appear to have any batting.
CONDITION: This quilt is in exceptional antique condition for a textile over 130 years old. The colors remain vibrant across the printed cottons, and the stitching is intact throughout. Please review the photos as they form an important part of the description.
