  • Details
This Antique Barn Raising Log Cabin quilt dates to the late 19th century, circa 1880–1900, and is made of dozens of individually pieced Log Cabin blocks in a traditional geometric design. Each block has a pop of color in the center - a bright yellow calico center -- that is surrounded by narrow strips of colorful period cotton fabrics, including reds, indigo blues, burgundy, olive green, pink, cream, gray, and black.

The late Victorian fabrics include calicoes, paisley prints, florals, checks, stripes, and assorted shirting fabrics.

The blocks are hand pieced and the quilt is very lightly hand-quilted. The back is a white/grey stripe shirting fabric that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The quilt is foundation pieced and has no batting.

CONDITION: This quilt is in good antique condition with some variations in fabric color and several seam separations. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
