This beautiful and unusual vintage Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt dates to circa 1940s and is constructed from hundreds of small, 1.5-inch satin hexagons arranged into colorful flower rosettes against a dramatic black satin background. The flowers feature brilliant combinations of ruby red, cobalt blue, yellow, pink, peach, lavender, green, and brown.
The hexagons have been individually hand pieced, with each flower consisting of a center hexagon surrounded by two concentric rings of contrasting colors. Black satin hexagons separate the flowers and create a striking overall design.
Another unique feature is the narrow, multicolored and multi-layered prairie point edging surrounding the entire quilt, made from tiny folded triangles in colors that complement the flowers.
The back is a lovely pink satin with a tiny white geometric print while the batting is very thin and lightweight. The quilt is very lightly quilted in short bursts around the quilt.
CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition. The satin retains its rich, vibrant colors and attractive sheen. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
