This is a very sweet blue floral Vintage Double Nine Patch Quilt dating to approximately the late 1930s to early 1940s. This colorful quilt features traditional Nine Patch blocks in indigos and navy blues, black prints, mustard gingham, polka dots, checks, and shirting fabrics.
The blocks are arranged against a cheerful cream-colored cotton fabric featuring small blue flowers with red accents and green leaves. A classic 1930s cotton with a blue, pink, and green floral print frames the patchwork.
The hand quilting is in a diagonal grid in the body of the quilt and in a straight-line grid around the four-sided border. The back is an off-white/cream cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. The fabrics remain colorful, particularly the bright blues and floral border. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. The quilt has been soaked, freshly hand washed and line dried, giving it a light, natural, sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
