This vintage Nine Patch quilt dates to the 1920s and features mint green sashing with 9-patch squares made of blues, pinks, yellows, olive greens, and darker fabrics throughout the quilt.
Many of the cottons are repurposed fabrics, including what appear to be shirting and clothing fabrics, giving it the character of an early scrappy utility quilt. It has been hand pieced and has hand quilting that is in an allover diagonal grid.
The back is an off-white/cream cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight and unsized.
CONDITION: The quilt is being sold as a cutter quilt due to its condition. There are numerous areas of fabric wear, thinning, fading, discoloration, and fabric loss throughout the quilt. Some patches have holes and tears, and the binding is frayed. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
Despite these issues, most of the original patchwork remains intact, with a wonderful variety of early fabrics.
