1930s Vintage Signature Album Quilt, Hand Embroidered Names, Pink Green, 71 x 87

This is a distinctive 1930s signature Album Quilt with 20 individually pieced blocks, with names hand embroidered in colorful thread. Dating to approximately 1935–1940, the quilt combines a variety of Depression-era cotton prints with bright pink and deep green sashing and a lovely alternating pink and green prairie-point border.

The blocks are in the album pattern and feature an interlocking geometric pattern surrounding white cross-shaped centers. The embroidered signatures include names of family members and relatives, including several identified as aunts, suggesting that this was a family friendship or commemorative quilt.

The fabrics include floral prints, tiny geometric patterns, polka dots, and multicolored dressmaking cottons in blue, lavender, aqua, pink, yellow, and green.

The hand quilting is in a dense crosshatch grid throughout the quilt including through the individual blocks and across the pink and green sashing.

The back is white cotton while the distinctive prairie-point border provides an especially attractive finishing detail and serves as the binding. The cotton batting is unsized and lightweight.
