Antique Sawtooth Star Quilt c. 1900 – Cadet Blue & Scrappy Cottons – Hand Quilted – 63” x 76”

This Antique Sawtooth Star Quilt, dating to 1900–1915, is made from late Victorian cotton fabrics set against a distinctive cadet-blue background with tiny white dash prints.

The Sawtooth Stars are individually pieced from a lovely variety of period cottons that include indigo blues, burgundy and claret prints, double pinks, black-and-white calicos, shirting stripes, woven checks, plaids, and small-scale florals.

Large blue hexagons separate the colorful stars, creating a striking geometric arrangement. The quilt is entirely hand quilted, with stitching following the pieced shapes and additional rows of quilting along the narrow blue borders. It has a soft, natural texture and a plain light-colored cotton backing.
