A really lovely, large and rarely found variation of a Double Wedding Ring Quilt, dating to the 1960s–1970s, with a vibrant pink cotton background and intricately pieced rings of scrappy cotton prints. The rings incorporate floral calicos, geometric prints, polka dots, and novelty fabrics in blues, reds, greens, yellows, and other colors.
Bright yellow and turquoise four-patch squares connect the interlocking rings while the quilt is entirely hand quilted with outline stitches of the rings. The open pink areas are hand quilted with a Dresden Plate pattern and a geometric/floral motif. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is finished with a beautifully shaped scalloped edge that follows the curves of the outer rings. The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been machine stitched to the front and handstitched to the back. The batting is lightweight and thin.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. The pink background remains bright, and the numerous printed cotton fabrics retain their wonderful colors. The piecing and hand quilting are well preserved. There are a few small age-related spots on the back, as shown in the photographs, but these do not detract from the quilt’s overall appearance. The quilt has been soaked, freshly hand washed and line dried, giving it a light, natural, sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
