This Double Wedding Ring Crib Quilt dates to the 1940s-1950s and was made from hundreds of small cotton fabric pieces arranged in the traditional interlocking wedding ring pattern using vintage floral prints, checks, plaids, and geometric cotton fabrics in shades of blue, pink, turquoise, lavender, red, and navy.
The rings are set against a cheerful yellow cotton fabric printed with tiny white daisies, with alternating pink and turquoise squares at the intersections. The quilt has a beautifully scalloped perimeter that follows the outlines of the rings.
The quilt has been sewing-machine and hand quilted. The machine quilting is in outlines of the rings while the hand quilting is in geometric motifs in the open yellow areas. The back is a light blue cotton flannel printed with sheep, crescent moons and stars, while the binding is yellow cotton that has been machine stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is medium weight - this is a little quilt made for warmth.
