  • Details
This beautifully preserved late-19th to early-20th century American whole-cloth quilt features elegant roller-printed cotton florals in soft blues, tans, and warm neutrals. Made from continuous lengths of premium cotton yardage rather than scraps or patchwork, this quilt was created as a best quilt rather than a utilitarian everyday bedcover.

The front showcases a graceful pale-blue floral print with delicate picotage (dot) background—an iconic textile style of the 1885–1910 period. The reverse and alternating strips are made from coordinated printed calicos, creating a refined, harmonious look typical of Victorian-era decorative bedding.

The quilt is hand-tied, giving it a soft drape and comfortable weight ideal for display or gentle use. Quilts of this construction used more expensive yardage, making them far less common than scrap quilts of the same era. With its excellent condition and timeless palette, this quilt offers both historical significance and decorator appeal. The cotton batting is medium-to-heavy weight.

    Condition

Exceptional for its age. The fabrics retain good color and strength with only one tiny (less than 1/4”) tear on the front and the lightest expected antique wear.
