  • Details
This striking antique Lone Star quilt, or Star of Bethlehem, dates to the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1915). Featuring a bold eight-pointed star radiating across a soft cream white cotton ground, this quilt is pieced from classic red shirting fabrics with tiny dotted prints—hallmarks of turn-of-the-century quiltmaking. The hand-quilting is in outlines of the patchwork and in evenly spaced, finely quilted repeating diamonds.

The quilt is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, with beautifully even diamond construction and secondary star motifs at the corners and sides. The graphic red-and-white color palette continues to the back, which is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

In very good antique condition with light age toning, some fading of the fabrics and a few small, scattered storage spots consistent with age. See photos. No major damage or fabric loss.
