Vintage 1930s LeMoyne Star Quilt | Hand Quilted Feedsack Patchwork | 70" x 80"

This beautiful quilt features a classic LeMoyne Star design constructed from carefully pieced diamonds surrounding inset white squares. The stars are a wonderful mix of 1930s–early 1940s cotton prints, including feedsack-era florals, geometrics, plaids, and novelty motifs, all set against a soft white ground.

Hand pieced and hand quilted throughout, this quilt reflects the economical yet skilled workmanship of Depression-era quilt-making, with expert quilting in outlines of the patchwork, and in flowers, and tiny geometric patterns. The back is white cotton while the binding is lavender cotton that has been machine-stitched to the back and hand-stitched to the front. The cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in very good condition with beginning fraying of the binding, one small, old repair/patch to the front and two to the back, while there is fugitive dye transfer/color transfer from a green fabric to one white patch on the front (see photos) and the same on the back.
