This is a complex applique sampler quilt, which appears to have been made in the 1990s using a commercial quilt kit reproducing one of the most iconic historic quilts, "The Bride's Quilt", held by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
The quilt is hand-appliquéd and hand quilted, with hand-quilting in double diagonals, cross-hatch grids and concentric squares. Each block presents a different motif—wreaths, vines, florals, and decorative elements—arranged in a classic sampler layout on a white background. A bold four-sided border with red sawtooth triangles and flowing serpentine green vine frames the quilt.
The back is white cotton while the binding is thin red cotton that has been machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The batting is lightweight, but the quilt overall is rather heavy due to its large size and the heavier-weight cottons used in its construction.
This well-made, sturdy vintage quilt is in excellent condition with no condition issues noted.
