Vintage 1975 Hand Appliquéd Floral Quilt – Signed and dated – Morning Glory Vine Quilt – 86"x92"

This beautiful vintage quilt is a hand-appliquéd floral vine quilt, signed "Vita Nicholson" and dated 1975. It features a repeating pattern of morning-glory–style round blossoms with star centers, connected by graceful green vines that form interlocking circular garlands across the quilt top. Each flower and leaf has been hand appliquéd and lightly stuffed, creating a soft dimensional relief, and the quilt is entirely hand quilted in feathers, flowers, a fine diamond/diagonal grid, and with very dense echo stitching around the appliqué motifs. The workmanship is careful and consistent.

The quilt is backed with a painterly mid-century floral cotton, characteristic of post-war screen-printed textiles and the cotton batting is lightweight. The binding is off-white cotton that has been machine stitched to the back and hand-stitched to the front.
