Antique 1870s Hand-Appliquéd Red & White Lotus Flower Quilt -- 81" x 83"

This is a beautiful Lotus Flower variation quilt with hand-applique applied with tiny stitches and expert hand-quilting in petals, double diagonals and cross-hatch grids, including along the four-sided sawtooth and striped border.

The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with some minor toning. Likely due to the dense quilting and expert applique work, this quilt remains sturdy and beautiful.
