Dating from 1910–1930 era, this Mary's Choice Quilt features incredibly dense hand-quilting and classic Blue Cotton Chambray. This is not a modern printed fabric; it is a "color-grown" weave where the warp and weft threads create an iconic soft, mottled texture. This specific "Cadet Blue" was a staple of the early 1900s. The tiny hand-quilting is exquisite and is in braided ropes and dense cross-hatch grids, including along the four-sided blue and white border.
The back is white cotton while the binding is blue cotton chambray that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in very good condition with light tanning spots on one border (see photos) and some fading of the Blue Chambray.
