This striking vintage Nest and Fledgling Quilt features bold coral patchwork set against cream-white, and dates from the 1930s to the 1940s. The hand quilting is exceptional. Each coral octagon contains a feathered wreath motif, the solid squares feature floral medallions, and the background is filled with graceful crosshatching and curved cable quilting.
The coral fabric is a vibrant solid cotton typical of late 1930s–early 1940s production, and the cream-white ground is a tightly woven cotton sheeting. The back is cream-white cotton as is the binding which also has a coral embellishment. It has been machine-sewn to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is unsized and very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
