Vintage 1930s Friendship Dahlia Quilt – Hand Appliquéd & Hand Quilted – 67"x87"

This joyful vintage Friendship Dahlia Quilt is hand appliquéd and hand quilted and features bold eight-petal dahlia blossoms set on a soft off-white ground. Each flower is uniquely pieced from charming feedsack cotton prints with hand-embroidered yellow centers. The hand-quilting is in diagonals along the four-sided border and in outlines of the applique in the body of the quilt as well as in unique geometric shapes around the flowers.

The variety of fabrics is especially charming — tiny calicos, cherry prints, small geometric novelties, and cheerful florals — all beautifully preserved and still vibrant.

The back is off-white light cotton-linen while the binding is red cotton that has been machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is unsized and very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with several small, light toning spots on the back.
