This beautiful vintage Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted during the late Depression era, circa 1930s-1940s. The cheerful palette and small-scale 1930s prints make this a classic example of an authentic Depression-era hexagon quilt. The gardens feature vibrant red hexagon centers surrounded by soft florals, ginghams, shirtings, and conversation prints, all set against a striking solid purple path. The hand-quilting is in outlines of the hundreds of hexagons.
The back is purple cotton while the binding is pink and has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
