This charming small Chevron Quilt dates to the early 1940s and is a wonderful example of wartime scrap quilting paired with an extraordinary World War II novelty back.
The front is pieced in a lively chevron (tumbling blocks variation) layout using a delightful mix of 1930s–early 1940s cottons, including feedsack florals, ginghams, plaids, shirting stripes, and bright calicoes in aqua, cherry red, pink, butter yellow, navy, and mint green.
The back is what makes this piece truly special — a WWII commemorative print referencing major campaigns and locations including:
• Battle for Britain • Poland • Tunisia & the Desert • Guadalcanal • Suez • Panama Canal Zone • Mexico • Eighth British Army
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
