This beautiful vintage Quadruple Irish Chain Quilt, dating to the 1930s, features a striking and cheerful layout of hand-stitched 1-inch white blocks framed by vibrant yellow chain piecing, with the connecting chains composed of hundreds of 1-inch patchwork squares in an incredible range of scrappy period/feedsack prints. The hand-quilting is fine and in very tiny stitches in unique geometric/floral patterns in the open white areas and in cross-hatch grids in the rest of the quilt.
The back is yellow cotton while the quilt has been finished on all four sides with a prairie point edge that has been machine-stitched in place. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition, with some repairs/replacements made to the prairie points and an expertly done repair/patch to the back that measures about 3.5 inches square.
