This is a vibrant Depression-era Dresden Plate quilt, dating to the late 1930s–early 1940s and made from a wonderful assortment of feedsack and calico fabrics. Each Dresden plate is composed of scrap fabrics—florals, geometrics, and novelty prints—set against a white ground. The hand-quilting is exquisite - with feather wreaths and beautiful cross-hatch grids, all in tiny, precise stitching.
A standout feature of this quilt is its four-sided “Ice Cream Cone” border, made from individually pieced calico wedges. The back is white cotton while the quilt has been knife-edge finished with tiny hand-stitching around every edge.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
