This lovely vintage appliqué quilt, circa 1970s, was inspired by The Wind in the Willows and features Mr. Toad, Mole, and Ratty enjoying a picnic beneath a leafy tree, with a gently winding river, rowboat, and countryside details.
The design includes layered appliqué, embroidery accents and hand-quilting in the form of contour lines and textured tree bark. The back is blue gingham that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with lightweight batting.
