This is a beautiful, timeworn and much-loved Double Wedding Ring quilt—a piece that dates to the 1930s-1940s, yet still has vivid reds and a mix of other scrappy fabrics, including feedsack florals and cheerful prints, all against a crisp white ground. The four-patch connector blocks provide a beautiful pop of color.
The hand-quilting is in outlines of the 1-inch x 1.5-inch scrappy fabric blocks that make up the rings as well as in geometric/floral shapes in the open white blocks. The back is white cotton while the binding is red cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is unsized and lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt has been well loved over many decades and it shows with visible wear, including fabric thinning, small areas of loss, and a frayed binding. It remains sturdy, about 95% intact and beautiful for display purposes, but due to its condition issues it is being sold - and priced - as a cutter quilt.
