This beautiful late 1800s Pennsylvania Hexagonal Star/Rising Star Quilt has mellow colors and intricate handwork that has been hand-pieced in a classic hexagon (honeycomb) pattern. The palette is wonderfully aged—soft indigo blues, faded pinks, warm browns, and early shirting prints—all mellowed with time into an antique patina.
The quilting is entirely hand-stitched in dense shell grids while the Turkey red print border provides a striking frame and a classic late 19th century contrast to the softer interior tones. The back is a small-scale beige and pink floral print that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent antique condition with no issues noted.
