Details
This beautiful old blue-and-white Goose in the Pond Quilt has a wonderfully graphic early 20th century look, with rows of tiny pieced geese forming bold geometric star-like blocks across a soft white ground. Even with its timeworn condition, it has tremendous visual charm and would be lovely for display, styling, photography, farmhouse décor, or creative reuse.
Dating to approximately 1900–1920, this quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with indigo/navy and blue printed cottons set against white cotton. The hand-quilting is in outlines of the patchwork and in diagonal grids.
The back is white cotton that has been knife-edge finished and hand-stitched closed. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
CONDITION: Because of its condition issues, this quilt is being sold as a cutter quilt / restoration quilt / display textile. It remains very beautiful and highly decorative, but it is best suited for gentle display, repurposing, repair, or styling due to extensive fabric loss and some holes, including along the edge - see photos.
