This is a timeworn but beautiful 1930s quilt that has been hand pieced and hand quilted in a classic Double Wedding Ring pattern with small 1" x 2" pieces making up the interlocking rings and blue and pink four-patch squares at every join, all set against a soft white ground. The hand-quilting is in outlines of all of the patchwork and - in the open white spaces - in circles and petals.
A standout feature is the unique (for a wedding ring quilt) “ice cream cone” border that spans all four sides. The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: This well-loved quilt has overall fading and varying amounts of fabric loss on about 23 of the 1" by 2" patchwork pieces (see photos). Due to these issues, the quilt is being sold as a cutter or crafting quilt, but it is still sturdy and displays beautifully.
