Cheerful Vintage Dresden Plate Cutter Quilt – Multi-Generational - 81"x100"

$199.00

  • Details
    This vibrant quilt is a multi-generational effort, with 30 Dresden Plate blocks made of scrappy Depression-Era fabrics that have been hand-embroidered around each plate and around their bright green cotton centers. The quilt appears to have been finished in the 1950s or 1960s with bright green sashing and has been expertly hand-quilted in a modified twisted rope and embellished flowers. The fabrics of the plates include:
    * Classic 1930s feedsack florals
    * Cheerful pastels and small-scale prints
    * Plaids, ginghams, and repurposed garment fabrics

    The back is bright green cotton (matching the sashing) that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The batting is lightweight.

    CONDITION: While most of the quilt is sturdy and intact, about 10 of the 30 Plates have experienced fabric loss in one or two of the petals (see photos). There is also a tiny (1/8 inch) tan mark on one corner of the back. Due to these condition issues, the quilt is being sold as a cutter, though it still displays beautifully and could be repaired.
