This is a classic Dresden Plate Quilt from the 1930s thru mid 1940s, an era when the pattern was at its peak of popularity, mostly due to its use of scrappy fabrics. It has been made from an assortment of small-scale florals, geometrics, and feedsack prints in fresh, happy colors, all framed by the purple sashing. The quilt is hand-pieced and hand quilted with the quilting in outlines of the patchwork as well as in a circle around each plate with star points at the four corners of each block.
The back is white cotton while the sashing is purple cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt has been soaked, hand-washed and line-dried and is clean, soft and sturdy. It is in excellent condition with some uneven fading of the binding (see photos).
