  • Details
This beautiful Antique Ohio Star was made between the 1910s and the 1920s and features an airy white ground scattered with delicate eight-point stars pieced from early pink, rose, brown, and cream chintz fabrics that have been hand pieced and hand quilted. The chintz fabrics are a lovely mix of florals, scrolling prints, stripes, and tiny geometric designs typical of the early 20th century period.

The hand quilting is in outlines of the patchwork as well as finely executed crosshatch grids. The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: Many of the chintz fabrics used for the stars have shattered with age (see photos), but despite this, the quilt remains structurally intact and beautiful.
