Primitive Wild Goose Chase Cutter Quilt – 19th Century Farmhouse Textile – 72” x 72”

This is a beautifully timeworn antique Wild Goose Chase Quilt, dating to approximately the 1870s, is handmade from an extraordinary collection of mid-19th century fabrics in soft browns, faded indigos, shirtings, plaids, double pinks, chrome orange tones, and delicate small geometrics.

The quilt has an honest primitive character — unevenly faded fabrics, early cotton prints, hand quilting throughout, and the soft aged texture that develops over more than a century of use. The alternating vertical Wild Goose Chase still have a striking folk-art appearance despite condition issues.

The backing fabric is particularly lovely, featuring an early geometric roller print in dusty salmon pink while the binding is a blue cotton print. The unsized cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: This quilt is being sold as a primitive cutter quilt due to extensive fabric wear and loss in areas of the top, especially along portions of the outer edges where fragile fabrics have deteriorated over time. See photos. Despite the condition issues, the quilt remains visually stunning and displays beautifully as an authentic antique textile.
