This scrappy 1930s Double Wedding Ring Quilt is pieced from a delightful assortment of 1930s cotton scraps and feedsack fabrics in pastel pinks, buttery yellows, aqua blues, plaids, florals, stripes, and novelty prints. The intricate hand quilting is in outlines of the tiny patchwork and in geometric/floral motifs in the open white areas.
The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form a very narrow binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is sturdy and mostly intact, but is being sold as a cutter quilt due to age-related overall fading and scattered fabric wear, thinning and fraying, particularly in the bright yellow fabrics at the intersections of the rings. See photos. The quilt has been soaked, freshly hand-washed with fragrance-free soap and line-dried, giving a light natural sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
