Vintage 1940s Embroidered Crib Quilt | Nursery Decor | Hand Embroidered Raggedy Ann & Children’s Motifs | 38” x 48”

This 1940s Embroidered Crib Quilt features hand-embroidered and hand appliquéd children’s motifs scattered across a white background with a soft blue border. The figures include Raggedy Ann, children at play, a sailboat, animals, and other nursery-themed designs. Several of the figures incorporate dimensional fabric appliqué for clothing.

The embroidered figures show the cheerful, cartoon-inspired style that was popular for nursery textiles during the 1940s.

The quilt is entirely hand quilted in an allover crosshatch grid with a twisted rope quilting design along the four-sided border. The back is white cotton while the blue border has been turned to the back and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. The quilt remains sturdy with bright colors and clean embroidery. There are a few faint marks visible on the back that are not visible on the front, but no significant condition issues noted. The quilt has been soaked, freshly hand washed and line dried, giving it a light, natural, sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
