Vintage 1930s Double Wedding Ring Quilt – Hand Quilted – Exceptional Fabrics – 79” x 90”

This is an exquisite 1930s Double Wedding Ring quilt made from a beautiful collection of Depression-era fabrics. The scrappy pieced rings include striking and tiny printed cottons around the rings punctuated by cobalt blue and pink four-patch intersections.

The tiny patchwork contains tiny florals, geometrics, dots, checks, stripes, novelty-like prints and small-scale calicos in red, blue, green, lavender, peach, yellow, pink and black with bold black-and-white geometrics, red-and-white polka dots, little florals and green and blue prints.

The fine hand quilting is what makes it exquisite. The tiny stitched quilting outlines each tiny patchwork piece, as well as the smaller white blocks while the bigger which blocks are quilted in precise crosshatch grids.

The four-sided scalloped edge follows the outer curves of the wedding rings. The back is white cotton while the binding is a deep blue cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and handstitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition. Please examine the photos as they form an important part of the description. The quilt has been soaked, hand washed and line dried, giving it a light, natural, sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
